Solid Skincare Might Be The Next Big Thing
You might have noticed that there has been a significant shift in the skincare industry towards more sustainable and innovative products. One of the most exciting developments is the rise of solid skincare formulations. These innovative products come in various forms, such as bars, sticks, and pellets, and have gained popularity due to their eco-friendliness, convenience, and effective results.
Breaking barriers and pushing boundaries
Solid skincare formulations have such a different approach than conventional skincare. While a conventional skincare formulation usually contains a large portion of water, in solid skincare formulations usually a cosmetic chemist uses combination of wax, butter, and oil as the main raw materials.
Therefore, creating solid skincare products is no walk in the park; it's an art form. It took more than one year for MOIN to develop the perfect formula for both our Calming Cleansing Stick and Barrier Protecting Hydrating Stick. Personally, texture is one of the trickiest elements to get right. Introducing a new product concept means we have to convince consumers that they will get a similar sensation to skincare products they are used to using. Although it's in a solid form, these products must strike the perfect balance between gliding smoothly onto your skin and delivering those skin-nourishing wonders.
Also, due to its nature, solid face moisturizer for example, can feel a bit greasy for some people especially those with oily skin. Therefore, we need to carefully choose which raw materials we want to incorporate in the formulation. This is one of the main reasons why we use shorea butter instead of shea butter for our Barrier Protecting Hydrating Stick. Not only that shorea butter provides exceptional conditioning properties for the skin, it gives the body to the hydrating stick and is less greasy. Besides that, we also use a fast spreading emollient that has a dry feel and silica to reduce the greasy feeling.
Why you need solid skincare in your life
I personally am a fan of solid skincare because they are so easy to use and travel friendly. As someone who travel a lot, I can bring both MOIN's Solid in Stick range in my carry-on luggage hassle-free without worrying about liquid restrictions. What I also noticed, I only need to use a little amount since the concentrated formula can go a long way, which can lead to cost savings in the long run. Additionally, they tend to have a longer shelf life compared to traditional liquid skincare products.
For a lot of people, opting for solid skincare means choosing for earth-conscious alternative, although we all agree that sustainability is a complicated topic. Solid product usually has minimalist formulation and allows us to reduce plastic consumption since they usually comes in minimal and recyclable packaging.
Can solid skincare be the future?
Solid skincare formulations have emerged as a game-changer in the beauty industry. They address both environmental concerns and consumer preferences for convenient and effective skincare products. While formulating solid skincare comes with its challenges, the numerous benefits they offer outweigh the obstacles faced during their creation. As consumer demand for sustainable and innovative products continues to grow, we can expect to see more exciting developments and a wider variety of solid skincare options in the market. So, if you're looking to elevate your skincare routine while reducing your environmental footprint, consider giving solid skincare a try.
